Web Assistant

Compare options across websites and show each step, with links

Works on websites for you in the Browser panel, finding facts, comparing options, filling in forms and checking your sites, one visible step at a time.

Introduction

A lot of your day can go to clicking through websites. You open three shops to compare one price. You copy numbers into a sheet. You check that the links on your own site still work. It is slow, and it is easy to lose your place halfway through.

Web Assistant does those visits for you, in the Browser panel, one step at a time. Think of a personal shopper, or a librarian who knows which shelf to check. It works like a kitchen assistant who fetches the ingredients while you keep cooking, so you spend your time on the decision, not the search. You say what you need. It goes to the right pages, skips the adverts and filler, reads the parts that matter, and returns with the facts and the links that prove them.

You can watch every step as it happens. It does not guess. It reports a change only after a screenshot shows that the change is there. If a page did not respond the way it should, it tells you so and shows you the page as it really is. It also knows where the line is. Some steps are hard to undo, such as sending a message, buying something, accepting terms or changing an account setting. Web Assistant always stops and asks before any of them. You stay in charge of every step that costs money or speaks for you.

What Web Assistant can do

  • Find and read web pages, then compare options such as prices, features or opening hours, side by side.
  • Collect facts with the link to each source, so you can check every number yourself.
  • Fill in a whole form in one go, using the details you give it, and stop before anything is sent.
  • Work in the built-in Browser panel. When you need a site you are already signed into, it can work in your own browser instead.
  • Read a page as plain text. It can pick out the rows of a table and sort or count them, without clicking into each cell. It reads the whole table at once, so the answer comes from the real numbers on the page.
  • Check sites you build. It looks for links that go nowhere, layouts that break, forms that fail and errors on the page.
  • Show you a screenshot as proof of each change it made on a site, and tell you plainly when a step did not work. A failed step is reported as failed, never hidden behind a cheerful summary.
  • Write to Google Sheets and Google Docs when they are connected. It adds rows or paragraphs in one step, instead of clicking cell by cell.

Skills and use cases

This member does not have skill folders of its own. It handles the kinds of asks below, and it works in the Browser panel for each one.

  • "Compare prices for this laptop across three stores." You get a plain comparison, with the price, stock and a link to each store.
  • "Fill in this registration form with my business details." It fills every field, then stops and waits for you before it sends anything.
  • "Click through my new site and tell me what is broken." You get each problem with its page, and a screenshot as proof.

Each of these starts in the built-in Browser panel. If you need a site you are already signed into, you can ask it to use your own browser instead. For a question about a sheet or a document, it first reads what is already on the screen, so it knows the headers and the rows before it writes anything. That way, it fills in the right place the first time.

One job, start to finish

The most common job is also the simplest. You want to know where a laptop is cheapest, and you want to see the proof.

  1. You paste the product link and say, "Compare prices for this laptop across three stores." You also name the other two stores.
  2. Web Assistant opens the first store in the Browser panel and reads the product page as text. It finds the price, the model number and whether the item is in stock.
  3. It repeats the same steps at the second and third store.
  4. It checks that all three listings are the same model, so it compares like with like and not a similar machine.
  5. If a store asks you to sign in, it stops and waits for you. You sign in yourself. It never asks for your password and never types one.
  6. If a store shows a security puzzle, such as "I am not a robot," that is yours to solve. It waits for you.
  7. It writes a short comparison in plain words: the price at each store, the stock, the shipping cost if the page shows one, and a link to each page.
  8. It attaches a screenshot of each price, so you can see the real page yourself.
  9. It stops there. It does not buy anything. If you want to buy the cheapest one, it asks you first, and only buys when you confirm.

What you get at the end is the answer in plain words, the link to each store, and a screenshot for each price. You can check every number yourself, and nothing has been bought, sent or changed.

When to call Web Assistant

Call it for any job that is really a list of page visits. Checking a price in three places. Collecting the opening hours of every branch into one table. Filling a long form from details you already have. Reading a supplier's catalogue and pulling out the five items that fit your spec. These jobs are not hard, they are long, and that is exactly the kind of work a good assistant should take off your hands.

Ask it also when you want a second pair of eyes on your own site. It can walk every page the way a visitor would, follow the links, try the forms, and come back with a screenshot of each thing that did not work. Because it reports only what it saw on the screen, the list you get is a list of real problems, not guesses. And if a site asks you to sign in, it hands the keyboard back to you for that step, so your passwords stay yours.
