Introduction
When you cook, drive or walk, your hands are busy and the screen is out of reach. Yet the work in your app still needs you. You find a chat, type a task, send it, then check the result. Voice removes that trip back to the keyboard. You talk, and it does the finding, typing and sending for you.
Voice is your computer with a voice. You start it from the composer, the box where you type to Upfyn, and then you speak. It opens the pages you need, finds the right chat, types the task and tells you what it is doing as it goes. Think of it as a hotel concierge who makes the bookings while you explain what you want. You say the goal, and it handles the steps.
It also handles phone calls for you. It can call the people on a list you give it, answer calls to your own number, and keep each contact's status in your sheet. Because a phone call is hard to take back, it always reads back what it will say and waits for a clear yes before it calls anyone. It asks before any voice agent goes live on a real number.
It is like a radio host who keeps the listener company while the crew works behind the glass. You hear the updates as they happen, and nothing is called done until the app itself confirms it. That steady narration is what makes a hands-free session feel calm rather than blind.
What Voice can do
- Open pages and panels in the app, including the Voice agents page and the browser, and find your chats by name.
- Type a task into a chat and send it, once you say so. It reads the message back to you first.
- Hand bigger work to the chat or to the right member, then tell you how it went when the work finishes.
- Drive the browser and your computer, but only when you have allowed it.
- Call the people on a list you give it, and write each contact's status back into your sheet, so you can see who still needs a follow-up.
- Answer calls to your own number, and keep a record of what was said.
- Set up your own voice agents on your own accounts with other voice services, and give those agents the desktop's tools.
- Remember your language, your speaking pace and the voice you prefer. It speaks in short, plain sentences and narrates what it is doing, so you always know where things stand.
Skills and use cases
Voice has one skill of its own, upfyn-voice-agents. It helps you set up a voice agent for your calls. You give the agent a name, the knowledge it needs, the phone number it uses and the calling list it works from. It also helps you choose or design the voice the agent speaks with. Use it before you set up a new agent, or when you want a different voice.
Its management view lives in the Voice agents page. Use it when you want to change an agent after it is live. Going live on a real number is never automatic. Voice asks you first, every time.
Most voice work needs no special skill. You just talk:
- "Open my website chat and ask it to make the hero shorter." Use it when you want a change made in a chat while your hands are busy.
- "What did the research chat find?" Use it when a task is still running and you want the answer read back to you.
- "Call everyone in leads.csv who hasn't answered yet." Use it when you have a list and want calls made. Voice reads the list back first and waits for your yes before it dials.
One job, start to finish
Here is the most common job: sending a request to a chat by voice, while you are on the move.
- You start a call from the composer and say: "Open my website chat and ask it to make the hero shorter."
- Voice opens your website chat and tells you it is there.
- It reads your message back: "I'll ask it to make the hero section shorter. Shall I send that?"
- You say yes. It types the message into the chat and sends it.
- While the chat works, Voice keeps you company. It says what it is doing, in short sentences, and it never says the work is done before the app says so.
- The chat finishes. You ask, "What did it come back with?" Voice reads the answer aloud, one idea at a time, without reading out lists or symbols.
- If the next step would delete or overwrite something, Voice says exactly what will happen and waits for a clear yes.
- You end with the updated copy in the chat and a short spoken summary of what changed.
The assistant is like a receptionist who takes the message, reads it back, and passes it on only after you confirm. It does the typing, and you keep the decisions.
What you get at the end is the finished change in your chat, or the finished call list, a short spoken summary, and a clear note of anything still waiting for you. Nothing is sent, deleted or called without the yes you gave it.
