Continue the same project when you leave your desk

A useful mobile handoff keeps you connected to the work already on your computer. Prepare the pairing before you leave and start with a small request.

You have a report in progress on your computer. While you are away, a colleague asks which items need a decision. The answer is in the project, but your phone does not have the files or the working conversation.

Upfyn's remote access is designed to reach that desktop project. A paired browser or phone becomes another way to direct the work on your computer.

Keep one working environment

A project's state includes more than its messages. There are source files, current drafts, and tools already set up for the task. Development work may also have a branch, uncommitted changes, or a service running locally.

Reaching the same computer helps preserve that continuity. You can give a follow-up instruction against the work already there instead of setting up a second copy and later deciding which one is current.

The desktop remains the machine doing local work. The remote screen is the way you reach it.

Pair before the moment you need it

Enable remote access in Upfyn on the desktop, then follow the app's pairing flow from the phone or browser you intend to use. Check that you are signed in as required and connecting to the correct machine.

Choose a recognisable device name. If you have more than one desktop, “office reporting PC” is easier to identify than two similar default names.

Test the connection while you can see both screens. Ask for a simple project summary and confirm that the response refers to the expected files. It is easier to resolve setup questions while you are still at the desk.

Leave the computer available

Keep Upfyn running, the desktop awake, and the network connected for the local work you plan to request. Remote access must also remain enabled.

If the computer sleeps or turns off, the paired browser cannot continue local execution. The connection does not create a separate cloud worker with another copy of the files.

That requirement is especially useful to understand before leaving for a long period. Test the availability you expect rather than discovering it after you need the result.

Choose requests that fit a smaller screen

Short reviews and clear directions work well from a phone:

Summarise the latest report in this project. List the decisions still needed and the source for each one.

Add this question to the project's open-items note and show me the updated section.

Explain the latest completed work and anything still blocked.

Detailed layout review or a large set of code changes may be easier to inspect when you return to a bigger screen. The task may be capable of continuing, while the human review still benefits from more room.

Understand which access you are using

Paired remote access is for reaching your own desktop through your account. Operator is for another person helping through a temporary session with explicit grants. Share is for transferring selected files on a trusted local network.

Choose the one that fits the outcome. If all you need is to continue your project from a phone, use the paired connection and keep the desktop's existing task permissions in place.

Review known devices and revoke access when a device is no longer yours or no longer needed. A clear device list makes it easier to know where you can continue the work.
