Start with the work you keep carrying between apps

The useful test of an assistant is what happens after you ask. Begin with a real task that moves between a conversation, a file, and an application.

Think about the last report you prepared. The figures may have come from a spreadsheet, the explanation from email, and the final result from a document. You were the person connecting all three.

That kind of work is easy to overlook because it sits between the visible tasks. You find the source, copy the relevant detail, explain the context again, and carry the result into the next application.

Upfyn is built around helping with that coordination on your computer. You speak or type the outcome, and the assistant works with the project files, supported connected apps, and tools available to the task.

Begin with something you already do

You do not need to configure every feature before trying the product. Choose a small task whose result you can recognise.

It might be a summary of customer notes, a comparison of invoice records, a document draft, or an update to a connected Google Sheet. Use material you understand so you can judge the first result.

For example:

Read the customer notes in this project. Group the recurring problems and write a short brief for our next planning meeting. Include source references and list questions the notes do not answer.

That request gives the work a purpose. The assistant can help organise the information, and you can check whether the brief represents what customers actually said.

Use the workspace that fits the next step

Analyst is the simpler starting point for research, documents, connected apps, and recurring preparation. It can read the project and keeps its own file outputs in the output folder.

Developer provides wider project access and tools for building and checking things, including a terminal, browser tools, and Git review. You can describe the outcome in ordinary language even when the work requires code.

These are ways to work with the same assistant. A research brief can begin in Analyst, while a later decision to build a small tool may call for Developer.

Give the result a useful home

Some work is best represented as a document. Research lets you develop and edit that document in the project. Design provides graphics, presentations, whiteboards, and websites. AI Studio gives media an editing timeline.

Other apps address collaboration and handovers: Team for shared work, Share for selected files on a trusted local network, and Operator for temporary remote help.

Add a focused app when the outcome needs it. A simple first task does not require opening every workspace.

Understand what runs where

Upfyn uses the desktop as the place where local files and tools are used. If you select a cloud model, the provider receives the relevant context needed to respond. A compatible local model can keep the model turn on the computer too.

The distinction is practical. You can choose a model route while keeping the project workflow, and you can understand which online services the job depends on.

Remote access and scheduled local work still need the desktop to be available. A phone connection lets you reach the machine; it does not create another computer that keeps working after yours turns off.

Build from one result that is useful

After the first task, ask what was used, where the result was saved, and what remains uncertain. Correct the instructions where needed. Then try the next connected step: turn the brief into a document, prepare a draft reply, or repeat the report on a schedule.

You will learn more from one familiar job carried through to a useful result than from a tour of every setting.
