Make a nearby handover simpler

Passing work to a colleague can involve more steps than finishing it: upload the folder, find the right sharing settings, send the link, and wait for the download.

When both devices are on the same local network, Share provides another path. Choose the items, let the intended device request access, and transfer them directly.

This is useful for media packages, presentation assets, reviewed documents, and project folders that need to reach another machine nearby.

Choose what becomes available

Share lets you expose a selected file, another folder, or the active project. That selection is the starting point for access. Review it so the recipient receives the material they need and understands which version to use.

For a complex handover, prepare a smaller package with a short file list. Upfyn can help inventory the project before you make the final selection.

Make discovery a deliberate choice

Turn on discovery when you want nearby Upfyn devices to find yours. Use a recognisable device name and confirm the intended recipient before approving a request.

Discovery helps devices find each other. The request and your decision determine the next step.

Review requests and follow the transfer

You can approve or deny requests to browse the selected items or send an incoming file. Share also shows transfer progress, recent access, and trusted devices.

For example, a colleague reviewing a media project can request the prepared folder. You check the device, allow the request, and watch the transfer. Afterward, confirm that the expected files arrived and can be opened.

Use the right network for the job

Share transfers directly across the local network instead of uploading the package to cloud storage. The network still needs to be one you trust. Direct transfer alone does not make files private from every peer on an unfamiliar network.
